Upon the release of state data for the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟑-𝟐𝟒 school year, Pamlico County Schools are proud to announce significant growth in student achievement, as well as school performance ratings.
𝐏𝐚𝐦𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐁 𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥, while the other schools in the district have successfully maintained their performance ratings, based on the North Carolina School Report Card.
𝐏𝐚𝐦𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥
Students at Pamlico County High School have made impressive gains in key subjects:
Math 3 scores jumped from 57.7% in 2022-23 to 67% in 2023-24
Biology proficiency went up from 57.9% to 64.2%
The Cohort Graduation Rate increased from 92.4% to 94.4%, a 2.2% improvement, meaning more students are graduating on time.
𝐏𝐚𝐦𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐌𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐥𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥
Pamlico County Middle School students made great strides, especially in math:
Math 6 scores improved from 47.6% to 59.7%, a 25.4% increase.
Math 7 went from 54.5% to 60.9%, an 11.7% gain.
Science 8 proficiency rose from 77.42% to 81.6%, a 5.4% improvement.
8th Grade Math 1 saw over 95% proficiency, a significant jump from 77.42% the year before.
𝐅𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐀. 𝐀𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲
Fred A. Anderson Elementary students saw impressive progress in math:
Math 5 scores increased from 50% in 2022-23 to 67.4% in 2023-24, a 34.8% jump.
𝐏𝐚𝐦𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥
Pamlico County Primary School students made great strides in literacy and continued strong math performance:
DIBELS Kindergarten scores improved from 48% to 77%
DIBELS 3rd Grade scores rose from 62% to 69%
3rd Grade Math continues to outperform the state average, with a 67.5% proficiency rate.
Cohort Growth (Grades 4-8): Impressive Gains Across Subjects
Students in grades 4 through 8 showed strong progress in both math and English Language Arts:
Math 5 scores increased by 14%.
Math 6 grew by 19%.
Math 7 saw a 28% improvement.
ELA 6 scores grew by 11%.
ELA 8 improved by 15%.
These achievements reflect the hard work of Pamlico County Schools’ students, staff, and the ongoing support of the community. The district is committed to maintaining high standards and building on this success in the future.
